Tea any one please ?

A mundane aluminum kettle can be boring , painting vibrant images on it can make the tea that is served in it more tasty  and refreshing .

Bucket flower vase

This brass bucket was bought from a little village market in the heart of  India. It was with me for many years, I generally used it as a flower vase. One day I decided to give it a face lift and to bring in some drama I painted  my favourite flower lotus and the majestic Banyan  on it.

Indian village girls serve tea to your guests

This hand painted tray brings the Indian colors alive. Four young Indian village girls help in serving tea to the guests. I made this tray some time back and it was bought by a lady  in Phoenix , where it  adds its Indian colors to the American home.

An old food trolley gets a face lift

24 years ago when I had gotten married this trolley came as a wedding gift for me from an uncle, over the years this trolley served its purpose and then was left abandoned for the pigeons to sit and do you know what ...... One fine day the idea struck me why not give it a face lift and I started to paint it. I used my own hand print and filled it up with vibrant hues. Now the old trolley serves as a bed side furniture in my daughter's room to keep her lap top, sun glasses etc. I am glad I did not throw it off.

Hand painted cylinder

An abandoned  cylinder lying at a junk yard was yearning to look good , I decided to change the trash into treasure ,everything has a right to look good ---the result my painted cylinder

The beginning .........

I have been painting since I was a small child growing up in a small town surrounded by simple joys of life like the big huge Banyan trees, the rope swing attached to the Guava tree in the back yard,  colour pencils, paint brush pallets have always been my companions , sitting under huge trees at my father' s house I painted, I painted the trees , the flowers the animals and the village belles, colour made my days bright, leaf print ,natural colour made out of leaves, flower petals, grated slate and powered bricks fascinated me. As I grew up painting became a way of life for me. Hand made things have always fascinated me, whether it was the hand stitched beautifully embroidered dress made for me by my mother or an interesting hand made gift wrap made specially by my father, DIY always played a major role in my life.
From paper to canvas I graduated. For many years it was canvas , since the last few years I have realized why stick to one medium --paper? Hence began my adventure with various ordinary day to day objects , beautifying then, making them an art piece and giving them a character, the mundane can also look appealing that has been my mission.
India is such a vibrant colourful country I want to take the colours of India with me wherever I go, colours bring in a splash of joy and hope and fulfills a dream--hence my art work, hope you will enjoy it, do post in your comments !!
